This style is specially designed to accommodate AFOs (Ankle-Foot Orthoses) and fits true to size. The BILLY zipper opens the upper down and around the toe so the shoe lays flat, and a braced foot goes straight in without forcing. Multiple removable insoles let you adjust depth to make room for the brace, and it comes in Medium (M), Wide (W), and Extra Wide (XW) widths for a true brace-friendly fit. Prosthetic friendly. Great fit. Great price, as I paid a lot more for orthotic shoes shipped from the US. Ships quickly as Warehouse is in Canada. Normally I require 6E in width, but these are 3E and fit perfectly. The zipper is a great idea... The shoe is secure, and allows you to take off and put on the shoe without having to deal with shoelaces. Great for quick release for the prosthetic. I am normally very restricted when it comes to purchasing new shoes, due to size and fit, but I am very happy to have found these shoes online.
This is the first pair of shoes my 2nd grader has been able to put on independently in his entire life. He loves them so much we’ve ordered a second pair. For him this means the ability to get out the door just as fast as the other kids at recess and lunch. They work well over the AFO and we are really hoping they come out with this style for kids in more colours!

Shoe laces could be 2 inches longer.
I have been purchasing these shoes for some time now and just wanted to give my feedback for the first time. The zippers could be a bit more durable; the sides, instead of glue, maybe stitching would be better. As shown in the picture, the side is already opening. I like the insole; it's much better. Before, every shoe I bought had holes in the bottom after a couple of months. Thanks for providing these shoes.
I’ve decided from now on, I am saving up all the Billy shoes we buy, my daughter gets 1-3 months wear out of each pair and I am sending them back to you.
Only to make an impression that I LOVE your shoes but the soles need work! Or could you sell extra bumper pads for kids who drag or toe walk and wear one relatively small spot off each and every pair so quickly!
I wish I had done this sooner as these are the only shoes she can wear that keep her AFO’s in place, shoes on her feet and her feet in straps in her wheelchair. We’ve been loyal customers since she was probably 4-5 years old and she is 12 now!
I’ve donated several pairs that look great except for one hole and thrown out lots more.

We've been struggling to find shoes that work over my daughter's AFO's and we just heard about Billy's and ordered them. These shoes are brilliant! Not only do they slip on super easy, they are a zipper closure so my daughter can zip them on and off by herself. Love them!!
Nice looking and comfy. Fit my KAFO perfectly. Switched to elastic laces as tying shoes with one hand a skill I ain't yet acquired 🙂(upper limb amputee)
It is a good quality shoe with the convenience of a zipper for wearing them. The extra insole inserts work really well for fine tuning the size adjustments. Overall, it is a comfortable shoe for indoor/outdoor use.
The photo is from the second day of wearing the new pair of AFO certified pair. Not sure why the sole is separating from the main shoe.
If you could make the shoes sturdier especially around the zipper and the sole that will be great.
We have had several pairs that broke around the zipper too.

This is what the toe looks like after one week of wear. I realize that my daughter drags her toes and obviously that is part of the issue. But with the price of these shoes I don’t know what to do any more. Last time I bought tough toe and put that all over the toe and front part of the sole. But tough toe is also $45 each time I buy it.
Très confortable! Je n’étais pas certaine de la couleur mais ça va! Au début je devais forcer pour les zipper au complet, mais après quelques jours, ça allait! Je recommande! Même ma fille de 9 ans en veut des semblables.
My son has autism and walks on his toes, so he needs to wear braces. I’ve been looking for shoes that are easy to put on with his braces, and this is the third pair I’ve bought from Billy Footwear. He can easily open and close them by himself. I’m very happy with them and will keep buying from them until my son gets better!
